Info Post
I am proud to announce my participation in an international & exclusive group of blogettes that post monthly under the label 'By Invitation Only'. The group was foundes by my dear friend Marsha Harris.
We are only two from Scandinavia who have membership in 'By Invitation Only', and to join the exclusive group, you must be recommended by a person who already has a membership. On the first Tuesday of every month we post an interpretation of a given theme, and the theme for November is this:
"Let's name the thing/person/place we've always wanted to experience, but haven't. Dream that money is no object. Tell the world what you've always wanted to do or wish you could do, but just haven't done it yet".
The starting point of my post and my dream is, that money is no object!
My biggest dream for several years, is to own a timber yard here in Norway, which means a collection of timber houses around a courtyard, as in the picture above.
The best thing I know is to have family and good friends around me. I love to serve good food and wine and wonderful cakes. I love to comfort around them and make exciting and happy things together with them. I get so happy when my family, friends and guests feel comfortable and enjoying the good life!
The timber yard is to be built according to old Norwegian handicraft traditions of high quality.
Here I want to live with my husband and have plenty of space for children, in-laws and grandchildren.
And like this, I want to welcome all our wonderful friends in Denmark and other places in the world.
The timber yard shall as told, consist several houses, so our guests can be undisturbed, do what they want and feel at home. The minor guest houses on the property will be rented out most of the year.
In each of the houses there will be a living room with fireplace, one ore two bedrooms, exlusive bathroom and sauna, a small kitchen and hallway.
In each of the houses there will be wonderful and cosy bedrooms.

One of the houses on the property shall be the spa. Here it should be decorated with items from nature, including stems from birch trees.
A storehouse on pillars, as shown above, will be an important part of the timber yard for me! It should not be used for food as in the old days, but rather as a studio, where I can paint my pictures.
My storehouse on pillars will have large studio windows on the top floor (also on the roof), and used as showroom/office downstairs.
I want to fill the timber houses with Norwegian antiques and old treasures. All rooms should be inviting, warm and cozy.
Every living rooms and the kithen will have fireplaces.

Some might ask - what should you use such a large timber yard for? Because it is an important part af my dream, I will also tell about it.
The plan for the property, is also to offer exclusive food and serving at meeting activities and corporate parties to smaller companies, and to private people for festive events.
The food is almost a story in itself. Of course, we will self cook for family and friends, but when there should be dinners and parties for groups, there will be a gourmet chef who is responsible for the food.
The food should only contain by the best and natural Norwegian ingredients, such as fish, seafood, Norwegian cured meats, lamb, musk, moose, reindeer, deer and birds such as ptarmigan, black grouse, pheasant and duck. Many types of mushrooms and many different berries.
Here in Norway, we are fortunate to live in a country with pure nature, where you can drink directly from the river and retrieve food everywhere in nature.
The original Norwegian timber yard had almost no garden with flowers and shrubs, but larger areas of grass and/or natural ground.
It will not be like that around our lumber yard where, however, one of the biggest attractions on the property, will be exactly the garden! The prototype for the garden, will be the beautiful garden of Michael Trapp in Carnwall. He is my absolute top favorite within garden design, and I will not hesitate to mix his design with a traditional Norwegian timber yard.
In a garden house like this, I want to serve welcome drinks and small appetizers for guests.
The garden house will be built in stone like this, and be a place with sculptures and unique treasures from the nature.
The garden will be built of stone in multiple levels with water several places.
The garden will have many trees and bushes, flowers, sculptures, small "secret" garden rooms and places to sit down.
The timber yard will be located in beautiful nature that can be enjoyed and used all year round.
I want to be able to put skis on my feet just outside the door.
As you can see, this is a big project, but I strongly believe that people need places like this!
We live in a world with so much sadness, aggression, brutality, and selfishness. I believe that someone has to provide opportunities to experience other aspects, both kindness, wonderul food, rest, silence, marvelous nature and other things that give positive nourishment for the soul.
This is the story of my dream and my way of the good life!
